Summer is on the way and so are the Termites!

With the recent wet weather and the mercury on the rise, conditions are perfect for subterranean termites as we move into their peak season in South-East Queensland. Whilst termites are active year round, they are particularly active in summer foraging longer and further for food to sustain their ever growing colonies.

This wouldn't be so ominous if they weren't so destructive, creating a higher repair bill than tropical storms and fires combined. They cost Australian home owners millions in treatments and repairs every single year.

You may now be asking: what can I do to protect my home from these vicious pests? The first thing you can do is make sure your home is getting regular termite inspections by a licensed timber pest inspector. The Australian Standards recommend at least annual inspections to be done in conjunction with some type of termite management system.

An annual termite inspection is the first step to see where your home is at, what the inherent risk factors are for your home and it's a good chance to discuss termite management plans with a qualified termite professional. All homes are different with a vast array of risk factors; for some homes moisture can be a major risk factor because of the location or a fault in the build (leaks etc), other homes are more at risk of a termite attack because of their location or the landscaping around the home, or if active termite nests are found in close proximity to the home. Whatever the specific circumstances our technicians will take the time to explain the risk factors and how they compound to put your home at risk of a termite attack.

There really is nothing like the peace of mind a chemical barrier brings. Knowing your home is safe from a termite attack and covered by a full five year warranty means you'll be sleeping easy! What's better is Results Home Services takes care of everything from friendly annual reminder calls to let you know when your warranty inspection is due to arranging all the treatment certificates for you so all you have to do is pick a day that suits to have the chemical barrier installed.
