How to prevent a flea problem in your home

Flea Pest Control for your home

If you've ever had pets you know fleas are a constant threat to your home but instead of living in fear of the itchy bites here are some helpful hints on how to prevent a flea problem in your home.

Fleas are parasites that feed on the blood of you and your pet. They are best known for the outbreak of the the Bubonic Plague most notably in the late middle ages (1340-1400) in Europe. An average of 7 human plague cases are reported in the United States per year and regular outbreaks are reported in Zambia, India Malawi and Alegeria. Fleas and poor hygeine are to blame for the spread of this terrible disease. The infected fleas spread the disease when they feed on humans and introduce the contagion.

Of course the plague is not something you really need to worry about in this day and age in Brisbane but fleas are also capable of transmitting diseases like Typhus through infected rats so it's important to tackle a flea problem before it gets out of hand or better yet, take preventative steps to avoid the problem all together!

Fleas are active in Spring right through to Winter and with our changing climate we've noticed more flea calls all year through so it's important to keep the flea control up to date on your pet all year long, don't rely on the seasons. Home maintenance is also essential, make sure you vacuum carpets and pet areas 2-3 times a week.

If fleas have already taken hold call call us now on 38232500 and talk to our team about getting one of our qualified technicians out to do a flea treatment at your home! Don't wait because like most things, it will only get worse and harder to fix the longer you leave it.
